It’s only been a few days but I already miss Paris! So much so that I wanted to share the first of my PFW runway reviews with you already. I don’t seem to be doing my fashion month articles in any particular order this year so it only makes sense that you should get the best first.
This season, Chanel transformed the Grande Palais into a digital data centre complete with cables, metallic racks and computer cabinets. Even individual invitations played a part in this seasons “intimate technology” theme.
As for the collection, you can see where the word intimacy comes into play with delicate lace, feminine shades and lingerie slips being repeated throughout the looks. In addition to delicate feminine touches, Karl showcases the ultra-technological inspiration for the show within his designs. He weaves thick tweeds and rubber strands to mimic the look of a computer cable and uses metallic accessories to bring the computer to life on each model. What’s even more inspiring is how he can pair these technology inspired pieces with delicate lace that screams femininity at it’s finest. Once again, Chanel revolutionizes the fashion world by producing futuristic designs and making them wearable for anyone. Who would have ever thought that a computer cable could look so elegant?
