NYFW has come and gone once again! Fashion Month has just begun and it’s already been quite an adventure. Missed flights, lost luggage, 12 hour bus rides, missed shows, late appointments… the list goes on! Basically all of the things people dread when travelling have already happened and we still have three weeks left! Can you believe it?
One of the great things that happened this season was the chance to see the Chanel Haute Couture SS17 collection up close. This season’s re-see was absolutely gorgeous! On one side of the room you could see the Atelier patterns hanging in a maze of frames artistically placed with a mannequin hidden inside. On the otherside of the room, a projection of the Chanel Haute Couture SS17 runway was replaying on the wall, complete with music and scenes of Lily Rose Depp as she walked along the runway. God, she is so beautiful!
The center of the room was filled with all of the delicate designs from last season’s show, hung between racks of mirrors, mimicking the theme of the runway presentation. There’s nothing quite like seeing a piece of Chanel Couture up close. So many details are missed on the runways. You would never be able to see how each sequin on a dress can be completely different from the one next to it. One may be shaped like a heart, while hidden sequins of the Chanel Camelia are sown throughout. To the naked eye, these would all appear the same, but once you get up close you can truly appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into each and every piece of the Chanel Haute Couture collection.
My favorite piece from the collection was the feather blazer with the metallic belt which you may have seen it on my Instagram. Some of the silver pieces placed throughout the jacket are actually hand-foiled feathers, soft to the touch. One of my goals in life will be to own it one day! Until then, I will sit back in awe at Karl’s collection once again!
