MY VERY OWN STAYCATION

The first thing I love, no, I NEED to do when I return from a trip is wind down. For me that involves curling up with my Shaw BlueSky remote and drifting off into my own little world. It’s like my very own staycation. You see, most people assume that a press trip or a travel project involves one hour of shooting and the rest of the days are spent in relax mode. The reality is it’s the opposite. It’s very, very, hard work. We spend entire days creating content. Most of the time that means getting up before the sun rises, wandering around from location to location throughout the day, and finishing up after sunset. Afterall, there’s nothing better than a golden hour shot!

My last trip to Bali was incredible, but between daily content creation, surf lessons every other day, editing, battling heat stroke, finding the time to eat and trying to sleep, I was exhausted by the end of the month. That’s why I like nothing more than to take an actual day off when I get back. Sometimes two or three. For me, that means curling up with my cat and binge-watching Planet Earth on my Shaw Bluesky TV, or maybe even Harry Potter. It really depends on the mood I’m in at the time.

I will literally curl up on the floor or on the couch, with snacks at the ready and not move. It’s the best thing ever. My cat always comes to join me, and together we will drift off into fantasy land and let the hours pass us by. I don’t even have to move my arms around to change the channel, I can literally just talk to my remote and tell it what I want to watch and the BlueSky finds my show for me. It’s amazing, and just what I need after a long trip!

What about you, what’s your ritual when you get home from a trip?

Disclosure: Big thank you to Shaw for sponsoring this post. It’s partners like these that help keep my channels alive! All opinions and stories are always my own.
