I Fell in Love With New York

Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to have the experience of a lifetime with a few of my girlfriends – New York Fashion Week! I couldn’t have been happier to be there and immediately fell in love with the city and all of the people I was lucky enough to meet along the way.
New York’s energy is contagious. The fast-paced vibe is consuming from the minute you step off the plane, giving you a burst of anticipation for what may come next. I now understand why everyone is so thrilled to live there, even with the cost of housing!

New York Fashion week itself was nothing short of AH-MAZE-ING! We felt as though we were in another world, filled with the celebrities you never dream of meeting and we were right there with them. We had our hair done professionally by TRESemme, dressed in our best and hit the pavement like we were ready to take over the world. Each day was packed with a full schedule of client meetings, parties (the Vogue, RewardStyle and Mode parties were my fave!) and of course, the fashion shows.

The shows took place all over Manhattan, but my favorite was the iconic Badgley Mischka show which took place at the Skylight at Monyihan Station. There is nothing more impressive than the way a room full of hundreds of people can fall completely silent at the start of a show. Badgley Mischka made that happen within seconds by captivating the audience with their breathtaking presentation and designs.
In the spare moments we had between shows we were able to really take in the city around us. We slipped off our heels and walked miles between the Upper East and West sides. Attractions along the way included the Flat Iron and Empire State buildings, Union Square and Macy’s! Yes, I consider Macy’s an attraction, especially when they have an 80% off sale.

By the end of the week my eyes were bloodshot, my feet were blistered but my heart was full. I left the city with an ‘Empire State of Mind’ feeling inspired, driven and willing to chase after my dreams.

A big thank you goes out to Expedia.ca for helping us find the best flight possible for our journey and to Airbnb for hosting our stay.
