How to lose 10 lbs in 7 days …ish

I want to start off by saying if you are losing 10 pounds in 7 days, it’s probably not the healthiest way to go. You should really be losing 2 lbs per week and never EVER choosing to drop below 1200 calories per day because your body needs this to survive.

Also, how much weight you lose in a week depends on your current weight and body type as well. If you are carrying a lot of extra weight it’s probably easier for you to lose some of those extra pounds but usually a quick cleanse or “7-day diet” is not the way to go to permanently lose fat. If you really want to lose fat, eating healthy and being active will always be the best way! I recommend ToneitUP for those looking for a change in lifestyle.

What I wanted to share with you is a diet that I am going to do this week as a detox from the abuse I have been putting my body through for the last little while and to trim up for an upcoming shoot where I need to be a little more on the toned side for. This diet has been around for ages and my mother actually did it when I was young as well. My friend recently did it before his trip to Vegas to look more “shredded” for the ladies and said it worked wonders so I thought I would give it a go and share the plan and the recipe I got from Diva’s Can Cook with you while I am at it! I think its important to have a good multivitamin daily to ensure your body gets what it needs!!!

Your 7 Day Plan:

Day 1- Eat nothing but fruit today (except for bananas) and as much of the diet cabbage soup as you’d like.

Day 2- Eat nothing but vegetables (except corn or other starchy veggies). However, you do get to start the day with a baked potato. I would try to use the soup as lunch and dinner and incorporate a ton of veggies as snacks! NO DIPS OR SAUCES, you can do it I promise!

Day 3-  Today you eat fruits AND veggies (except bananas, corn and other starchy veggies) You also don’t get a potato today. You could just do a repeat of day one and two if you like.

Day 4- Today you eat only bananas and milk/yogurt Yes, that’s right.. you can only have bananas and milk. I prefer to be as vegan as I possibly can so I will try bananas, rice milk, almond milk and non-dairy yogurts and of course the soup.

Day 5-  Today eat only tomatoes (6-8) and protein like fish, turkey and chicken or vegan substitutes where you can if you are like me! Have the cabbage soup for breakfast and added extra tomatoes since I don’t like tomatoes plain that much. For lunch try grilled chicken (or tofu) topped with tomatoes seasoned with salt, basil, pepper. For dinner have more soup with a side of protein!

Day 6-  Today it’s protein and veggies- Unlike yesterday you can have other veggies besides tomatoes.

Day 7-  Today it’s just fruits, vegetables, and juices again. Noooo  meats and remember to stick to raw fruits and veggies for full nutrients.

The Recipe:
  • ½ head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 cup white or yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 14 oz can basil, oregano, garlic diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • few shakes of black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt (optional)
Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add celery, onions, bell peppers, and carrots.
  3. Saute until slightly tender.
  4. Stir in garlic.
  5. Pour in chicken broth.
  6. Stir in tomatoes and cabbage.
  7. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat.
  8. Cook until cabbage is tender.
  9. Stir in oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, black pepper and salt (if using)
  10. Taste broth and adjust seasoning if needed.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
Jazz it up by adding lots of spices, herbs and a variety of veggies. This makes enough for about 3 days. Keeps well in the fridge for about 3 day.

let me know how it goes Meags! I think i’ll try it next week!

    • Thanks Rebeca! I am a few days in and already see the difference. Yesterday I found myself hungry so I ate a ton of soup lol. Because I am active I also eat a little more protein and carbs once a day on active days. You might want to do that too!
