In today’s video, I’m going to show you exactly how to rank your Instagram posts in the Top posts under major hashtags, getting your posts more exposure, and in turn more engagement!

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Meagan Faye, I’m a full-time Instagram influencer who quit her 9-5 job with 20k followers and started making a living right away. Since then, I have grown my audience to over 120,000 followers, have traveled the world and have scored some major partnerships. You can find me on Instagram @meaganfaye. If you’re not following me on there, there’s a link below for you to follow along for some BTS action.

Now I plan on sharing EVERYTHING I did and have learned, the good and the bad, to hopefully help you guys grow your online presence.

To get to the top posts under major instagram hashtags, there are 5 things I do that help me rank every time.

I do something called the 3-6-9 method. There are tons of variations on this method out there, but this is the one that I have found works best for me. Write down your Niche you want to rank in and 2-3 sub-niches. For example, if you’re a travel blogger, some of your niches could be skin care and fashion or even luxury if you’re staying in cool places.

If you’re a beauty blogger, some of your niches might be fashion and lifestyle.

Once you do this, open Instagram up, and start looking for hashtags under your niche, kind of like this.

Notice how when I put in “Travel” only hashtags with millions of posts come up? Newsflash, you’re probably never going to rank in those unless you hundreds of thousands  of followers.

Here’s where the 3-6-9 method comed in. This may be a little complicated at first, so I’ve included a free guide in the description below to help you guys out.Let me know in the comments below if you have heard of this or not.

Now, the 3-6-9 method is essentially selecting 3 big hashtags, 6 medium ones and 9 smaller ones. BUT There’s a trick to it. SO to start, we’re going to select 3 RELATED hashtags that are large, but they all should be below 1 million. If you’re just starting out,  or have a smaller account keep them below 500k. Why? Because Instagram pushes your photo and keeps your photo up under the top posts based on your engagement. SO if you don’t get a ton of engagement, you probably wont rank in the huuuuge ones.

Then select 6 hashtags that have between 50,000-250,000 posts on them. These hashtags can be a mix of just one niche or all of the ones you want to rank in as long as your content is actually RELATED to the hashtag you’re using. Otherwise people won’t like it anyways.

Finally, select 9 hashtags that have 15,000 to 50,000 posts. Now you have all of your tags ready, so you can copy and paste 3 of the larger tags, 6 of your medium sized tags, and 9 of your smaller tags in your CAPTION. I read in a few articles and forums that pasting the hashtags in your caption works 30% better than if you post them as a comment.

Now, If you really want to do this the easy way, you should create a list of at least 10 tags to use for each size and keep them on your notepad so you can mix them up often. Instagram doesn’t like you repeating hashtags all the time.
If you want a copy of my exact list of tags that I am using right now,  hit the Hashtag Strategy link in my description. I’ve included it as a bonus for you guys in there!

I’d love for you guys to try this strategy out, download the guide and let me know what you think and if the strategy worked for you. I don’t know about you guys, but I notice a huge difference in my impressions when I don’t use them.
