In 1980 Mike Mortimer first showed the Best of the Banff Mountain Film Festival at the University of Calgary, Science Theatres. Then the format used 16mm films.
Today the technology has been transferred to DVD’s and Blu-Ray. The venue has also changed, first to the University Theatre and now to the current location of the Eckhardt-Gramatte theatre at the Rozsa Centre at the University of Calgary. In addition further shows have been added at the John Dutton Theatre at the Calgary Public Library.
This will be the thirty fourth year that the films have been shown in Calgary. It is an opportunity to see some of the best and most exciting films from the 2013 Banff Mountain Film Festival which took place in Banff from October 26th – November 3rd, 2013.
“This film festival is always inspiring, illuminating and fear inducing! Always amazing and life changing just to watch these films”
“Program 2 of the World Tour is a fantastic balance of film content and the order of films presented. To me that’s perfect as it inspires to further research what interests me and choose my own viewing/reading adventure! Also, THANK YOU to all of the staff and volunteers who put together such an inspiring collection of films for us average folk!”
