Why is sunscreen so important?

I’m sharing #Aveeno®advocates in my life as a sponsored series for Socialstars™

In an era where tanning beds and excessive sun exposure is all the rage, why does it come as a surprise that an estimated 76,380 new cases of invasive melanoma will be diagnosed in the U.S. in 2016 ? Yes, that is an actual stat.

I admit that being tanned makes me feel more confident in my body. It looks great in the fashion world and to be honest, a good tan really makes me look like I am in better shape than I am. However, there are alternative ways to get that summer glow, year round, without BURNING yourself. Why not try self-tanner? There are loads and loads of self-tanners on the market that wont leave you looking like a slightly aged orange (more on that later).

Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays can literally mean the difference between life and death for you, or someone you know. I know it can be difficult to remember to put sunscreen on before you leave in the morning, kind of like deodorant…(you know you’ve been there!)

However, there are a few easy ways to incorporate sunscreen into your daily moisturizing routine so you don’t forget. Something I like to do is apply moisturizer, like Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Sheer Hydration Lotion (that absorbs in seconds!), right after I get out of the shower. I was once told moisturizing after a shower helps lock moisture into your skin, I have no idea if this is true or not, but it’s definitely stuck with me!

After applying your moisturizer, why not simply apply your Protect + Hydrate Sunscreen SPF50 immediately instead of waiting? All I keep thinking is that this is an extra layer of 24 protective moisture that we’d be locking in post-shower! It would take an extra minute of your time, but it would be worth every second knowing that you’re safer with superior broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection.
